We spent the last few days enjoying the nice weather. Thursday we went to Hull and the beach at Nantaskat. The beach is where Linda and Kevin like to go. Hull is a historic harbor town founding in 1644. We stopped by to see some CUTE Boston Terrier puppies belonging to Linda’s friend Ginny O’Connell. Then spent an hour or so walking along the beach, I tried to save clams from the seagulls by tossing them back into the water. I think the seagulls won.

mine! mine! mine!

I saved this one, more clams for me!
Saturday we went to the Oxbridge KC dog show Kevin was judging so Linda and I went along just for fun. It was a beautiful New England day in Connecticut and we saw some nice dogs and I even ran into people I knew! The show site was along a pretty river and it was a small show that made me imagine what old time dog shows might have been like.

Our last day we went shopping at Bass Pro Shop, this place is crazy, an amusement park for sportsmen/women! Lots and Lots and Lots of things. Plus a nature trail out back, a restaurant and bar and snack bar a shooting gallery. Like I said crazy!

It was a great trip and I’m lucky to have such good friends show me such a fun time. And a nice Mommy who took care of the kids at home.

Today it was all about the Harbor or HA Bore. This morning we went downtown and snagged a Free Parking space which apparently is a big deal in Boston and went to board the Spirit of Boston www.spiritofboston.com for a lunch cruise of the Boston harbor.

The weather today was perfect, right around 70 degrees and sunny.

After the cruise we walked along the Rose Kennedy Greenspace in downtown Boston. This lovely garden area was once a highway but Boston’s Big Dig put the highway underground.

After the walk thru the green space we walked along the Harborwalk back to the car. Along the way we saw this street artist playing the “buckets” he was great!

After the Harbor we went to Castle Island – Fort Independence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Island_(Massachusetts), unfortunately the Fort was closed be the time we got there but the park was wonderful and it was sure being enjoyed by lots of local people, fishing, flying kites, walking/biking on the paths. Lots of folks walking their dogs. It is funny how Linda, Kevin and I always call out the breed whenever we see a dog. It has been interesting to me that most people in Boston have purebred dogs, not a lot of mixed breeds out and about.

I spent the morning at the 4th of July parade, not as a watcher but as a walker. State Farm had a group in the parade and I volunteered to be a part of it. The dogs weren’t invited but there were plenty of them there, it was fun to see all the people out with their families including their dogs. Ginger and the Flea went to watch and pick us up at the end of the Parade. We had a fun time, maybe next year the dogs will be invited.

We are going to watch baseball, eat hot dogs and watch fireworks to end out Independence day!

Since we are talking about “up” dates both Bailey and Charlie have up ears and are out of their “hats”.
It is Official!

PJ is now formally known as Ch Mariel’s Flying Spirit, RN!
PJ really deserves the credit for this title since he got very little in the way of training and because he is a sweet and bidable boy he did what I asked him even if he wasn’t really sure of the reason. Maybe now we will train for something for real.
Frost seems to have both her Daddy’s sunny nature and her Momma’s smarts, she picks things up quickly and she is fun to train. Bailey seems pretty quick on the draw too and Charlie is a smart boy but I’m thinking he has a bit of his mother’s “I’ll do it my way” attitude. He is a sweet boy so I’m sure he will catch on quick and Cody is good about working with him. Ginger aka Mom took Bailey to school last weekend and it was reported back that she did really well at school.
We had “little” visitor yesterday Bekka brought Jena her foster daughter, the puppies had a good time chasing her around the yard. A tired puppy and child is a good puppy/child. We don’t have a lot of kid visitors so it is always fun to see the interaction with a kiddo.
Bailey and Charlie went to the Farmer’s market again on Saturday and I guess it will now have to be a Saturday ritual since one of the vendors made a comment, “oh those are the Cardis they come every week” we have Fans!
Cindy over at Foggybottom reminded me about having a yahoo group set up for her “doggy family” members where they share news and updates about dogs from her kennel or for people with puppies from her stud dogs. I had long ago set up a yahoo group for Solstice but never used it so if you are “related by dog” and want to join here is the addy http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Solsticekennels .

Did my laptop get the Swine? I don’t know but it has a virus and it is in the Hospital with the Geek Doctors. So there will be a lack of blogging until I get back from the road trips to NM and CO.
Boo Hoo!

The dogs have all blown coat and Lindy has decided to go to the show in ABQ wearing her summer suit but that naked isn’t what I’m talking about.
I left my CELL PHONE at HOME! No phone, no personal email, what am I going to do! At least I can access the blog from work so I have some sort of contact with the outside world. I’m trapped in my work cube without my people! Help!

For those who don’t know me personally I work for State Farm in the auto claims department. I’m proud of the work I do and have worked there going on 21 years. It is a great company to work for especially in today’s world.
Last year I was nominated and became a finalist for the Silver Spur award in the category for outstanding Customer Service. It is a big deal and they have a Gala event for the finalist and then award a yearly award. This year there were 16 finalist. I didn’t win the big prize the winner had such a great story and track record that I was happy just to be nominated (just like the Oscars).
This year’s Gala was in Austin Texas held at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort and Spa, it was a lovely hotel with a fabulous staff, lovely rooms and great food. A wonderful event.

The spa was really nice, I went and got my hair cut before the big shindig

I took my mom as my guest and Saturday and Sunday we spent time with my brother who lives in Austin.

We had a nice time hanging out, we went to the Hula Hut on Lake Austin for lunch, we took a field trip to Whole Foods, the Disneyland for Foodies, and then had brunch prior to leaving at an Austin hangout Kirby Lane. It was a nice visit.
I was glad to get home to the dogs, I really don’t like traveling with out them. Thank goodness I have great friends that help out and allow me to be able to take these trips.
This is the last one for awhile since Lindy babies are just around the corner.

I didn’t have a skywatch photo for this week but my best friend sent me this the other day so I asked her if I could let you enjoy the dawn on Keel Mountain, in northern Alabama.
